$3,500 Tournament Details

To qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament, a team must finish in the top five of the league standings at any given venue, with a minimum of four weeks played.  Teams may qualify at more than one venue, thus be allowed to attend multiple semi-finals, increasing their odds of making the finals.

The last day to earn points in the league is September 19th.

As per the league rules (listed below), the eight league teams who play trivia the most often during the season will receive a free spot in the tournament finals.  Those eight teams are still eligible to compete in a semi-final if they so choose, to try and eliminate other teams from making the finals.

Remember if you played trivia for the full evening, you would be credited with two games.  If you feel there is a discrepancy with your points, visit the league standings first and make sure the points have been updated.  This information comes straight from the standings.

This list will updated in the weekly email newsletter and on the website from here on out each Monday.

***Denotes New League Rule for Season 4

1)    Any number of people may play on a team at a regularly scheduled MotorCity Trivia show.  As always, there is no cost to participate in the P.I.M.P league.

2)    You must register a team name with your Trivia MC and you will need to use that same team name during the 15 weeks.  This will allow us to easily track your scores.  When traveling to other venues, make sure you check the league box on your team sign up sheet.

3)    Teams will earn points towards the overall standing based on their finish at each game.

***1st Place Before the Final Call Your Shot Question = 1 point

1st Place After Call Your Shot Question = 7 points

2nd Place After Call Your Shot Question = 5 points

3rd Place After Call Your Shot Question = 3 points

Non-Top Three Finishers After Call Your Shot Question = 1 point

4)    ***At the end of the season the top five teams (including any ties) from each venue will be invited to one of our semi-final tournaments at a TBD location.  To qualify at a venue, the team must have played at least four weeks during the league.

5)    ***New for Season 4 – teams will have the option to choose what venue they would like to play at during semi-finals.  Semi’s will take place over multiple dates and times.

6)    ***Teams may qualify for as many semi-finals at they want.  If a team is in the top five at more than one venue, they have the option to play in that many semi-finals.  This increases their odds of making finals.

7)    ***If a team qualifies for the finals out of more than one semi-final, they will essentially hold two (or more) of the finals spots, thus reducing the number of teams invited to finals.  The field for finals will start at 40 teams and will be reduced based on the number of multiple qualifiers.  MCT reserves the right to have a minimum number of teams in finals.

8)    ***The 8 teams (for 8 Ball Trivia) who simply play trivia the most often during the season will earn a free ride to the finals.  However, those teams still have the option to play in as many semi-finals that they qualify at to attempt to reduce the finals field.  Their finals spot can not be lost at a semi-final.

9)    ***All regular 8 Ball Trivia shows, Sports Trivia Show and “In Tune with MCT” shows will count towards the league standings.  Semi’s and Finals will be run as 8 Ball Trivia shows.

10) ***After all semi-finals are complete, there will be one final “Play-In” game at a TBD location.  Any team that has not made finals to that point will have the option to compete at this event for one of the final spots in finals.  This essentially makes the playoffs a double-elimination format.
